Is the price really installed, or is that just the equipment?
It is fully installed and includes GST. The price covers the cameras, the recorder with its hard drive, the cabling, mounting, configuration and setting up remote viewing on your phone. The only common extra is the double storey surcharge, which the quote builder adds for you.
What makes a job cost more than the price I see?
Very little. Double storey access is the usual one and it is priced in the builder at $715, charged once per job rather than per camera. Beyond that, unusual runs such as a detached shed across a driveway, a home with no roof cavity access, or a request for conduit down a rendered wall may add cost. Anything extra is quoted and agreed before we start work, never after.
Can I get a rebate for CCTV in Perth?
Often, yes. Sixteen of the thirty-one Perth metro councils run a home CCTV rebate, paying between $150 and $750 depending on where you live, and the postcode step in the quote builder above shows what yours pays. Every figure is an estimate: you apply, the council decides and the council pays you directly after the job.
Which Perth councils pay for CCTV?
Stirling, Wanneroo, Gosnells, Canning, Kwinana, South Perth, Armadale, Mandurah, Mosman Park, Melville, Bassendean, Rockingham, Cambridge and Victoria Park all have a scheme running, waitlisted or about to open, and Cockburn and Serpentine Jarrahdale are closed until their next round. Joondalup, Swan, Bayswater, Belmont, Perth, Fremantle, Vincent, Nedlands, Subiaco, Claremont, Cottesloe, East Fremantle, Peppermint Grove, Kalamunda and Mundaring pay nothing toward home CCTV. How many cameras do I actually need?
Most Perth homes land on four to six. Four covers the front door, the driveway, the back yard and one side access. Corner blocks, dual frontage, sheds and pools usually push it to six or eight. If you are not sure, choose the not sure option and we will work it out with you on a free call.
What is the free upgrade?
The four camera kit ships with a four channel recorder and a 2TB drive, and the recorder is full once the fourth camera is connected. From five cameras up we fit the eight channel recorder and the 4TB drive instead, so you can add cameras later without replacing anything and your footage goes roughly twice as far back. Both cost you nothing: the base price is the same whether you take four cameras or eight, and you only pay for the extra cameras themselves.
How long do the recordings last?
With the standard 2TB drive most homes keep a couple of weeks of continuous footage before the recorder starts writing over the oldest files. The 4TB drive roughly doubles that, and it is included free from five cameras up. If you want a specific retention period, tell us on the call and we will size the drive for it.
Do I need internet or a subscription?
Everything records to the recorder in your home, so the cameras keep working and keep recording even if the internet drops out. There is no monthly subscription and no cloud fee. You only need your home internet for live viewing and playback while you are away.
Which areas of Perth do you cover?
We install across the Perth metropolitan area, from Yanchep down to Mandurah and out to the eastern suburbs and the hills. If you are outside that, send your details through anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Twelve months on parts and labour, on top of the manufacturer warranty on the HiLook hardware. If something stops working in that time we come back and fix it.
